Tarot Studies – if you want to start learning at your own pace

Tarot

is for Divination, Self-guidance, Meditation, and Spiritual development, to Know Yourself.

What you will need for Tarot studies:

Your own Tarot Deck

-This is a practical you are trying to learn, and everybody have their own speed of understanding.

-Most of the practice is done at home so you need to be able to be independent in your studies.

-It requires your own personal dedication and concentration.

-Tarot reader’s Quirk:

The Tarot deck is as personal and necessary as a toothbrush:

- i.e. no one lends their toothbrush to another person, in the same way, no Tarot reader lends their deck to another Tarot reader.

Silk or Natural Fibre cloth

This replaces the original package the cards came in. It’s easier to handle and saves the cards from scratch damage of taking it out and putting it in every time you use the cards.

- Favourite Colour

Tarot Cover or Reading Cloth

Natural fibre, about 1×1 m, in any colour that pleases you most (favourite colour).

This cloth is spread out before you begin to un-wrap your deck of cards for reading. The purpose is to protect the cards from touching the surface you’re going to read on.

Tarot Journal or Diary

A thick all-purpose notebook will be fine.

-You will need to make notes for yourself, Tarot study is about self realizations and introspective ponderings. You will need to write down what results come from you meditations and your own progress.

-The notebook is divided into three sections:

General notes

Daily Record book

Tarot log

FIRST THING TO DO WHEN AFTER YOU BUY YOUR TAROT DECK

= PUT AWAY THE “LITTLE WHITE BOOK”

The little white book that comes with your Tarot deck may look like a good idea as a starting point. But it is nothing more than a sales gimmick and is really not suitable to learn from.

They can be very misleading, as they provide you with the publisher’s image of what that certain Tarot deck is. The research is not complete, and the information, though not wrong is not the right information for beginners. This will not help you advance in Tarot study; it often has the opposite effect. It creates mental blocks: The worst thing that can happen from “learning” from the little white book is it will give you a “mental block” or a certain mindset against any other methods of interpreting the Tarot. There are people who get so imprinted by the “little white book” that they automatically reject any other source of meaning for their Tarot deck. Even keeping it as a reference will not help you go forward where your tarot reading skills are concerned. Key words do not give sufficient guidance most white books leave it entirely up to you to understand.

My conclusion and advice is that you get rid of the book and you’re better off. The little book only serves the purpose of the publisher = selling. It will confuse you or at worst – stops you from learning.
